A dog with a leash permanently

In our culture where dogs are considered as the guard of the home it is common to see a dog that is tied by the gate of the house. Our vet said that when the dog has a collar in the neck that is in the leash then the dog is not free with the movement. There is a tendency that the airway of the dog will be affected. The symptom of a dog that is always on a leash is difficulty in breathing that it will cough once in a while even if it is not sick.

My neighbor has his dog outside at night but it has never had a collar or tied anywhere. It is always a free dog. I totally agree with the vet.

It's not good to tie dogs unless it's the one trained in the army.
