A morbid topic - when the pet dies

When our first dog died at 10 years of age, we were devastated that we had sleepless nights for a week or so. We buried our dog in our backyard. After a year, we learned of the cremation which we thought was more appropriate. We had the remains of our dog extracted and brought it to the crematorium. Now the ashes of our dog is in the cabinet display in our living room. That's the same with the 2 dogs that followed. The feeling that we still have our dogs in our home is gratifying and have given us peace of mind. It is expensive to have the pet cremated but it is worth the expense.
