Avoiding the crowd for health purposes

When we were young, my parents would always tell us to avoid crowds. We live in the suburbs where there are no crowds. But in school the crowd cannot be avoided. When we go to the city there is also the crowded areas particularly the business and commercial district. When I grew up and got sick of flu that was the only time that I realized the crowd is risky. When the pandemic started we were already avoiding the crowd and as much as possible we stayed at home whenever we can.

I generally don't like crowds myself. I'm deaf in my right ear and I have poor equilibrium and have a hard time in public as it is, in a big crowded area, that just makes things worse. I might not hear someone trying to get passed me, could lose my balance, etc. I try my best to avoid crowds and going out in public too often in general.
