Buying plane ticket 6 months in advance

A friend who is selling plane tickets at a discounted price offered me a trip to an Asian country that I prefer. The booking date is 6 months after. I have been traveling every year at least 2 times and I think it is all right to buy tickets 6 months in advance. However, the condition now is not normal that if there is a surge in covid cases the flight may be cancelled. That got me thinking.

This post reminded me of a message I received last week. I was invited to book a flight, train or bus in advance using this company website that I don't know about. I've never booked online for any trip I take because I'm used to paying in cash an hour before the trip. So that's the reason I didn't take the offer. I'm glad covid cases are low right now.
