I just got word my stepbrother died from suicide. I've never had to deal with the death of a family member that I knew.
Hasn't sunk in yet but any advice for this process would be appreciated.

That is indeed very sad news, dying due to natural causes or due to some serious illness is quite different from dying of suicide. It really tears you apart. How old was your stepbrother and what really happened for him to take such a drastic step? I guess, there is no real answer on how to deal with death, it takes time. There are no set words or phrases that will comfort a person on death of someone in the family. Just be there for others who are grieving. Your father or mother, whoever he was close to, you just need to be with them, hug them, wipe their tears....

This is a very sad topic and unfortunately this is applicable to me. My wife died last October 1 due to pneumonia. Until now (after more than a month) my mind is still not settled and my emotions are still not in check. Fortunately I do not turn to drinking and other vices. Despite the terrible sadness I am focusing on our finances and how to recover mentally and emotionally.

Hey there! I am really sorry to hear about your loss. Dealing with the death of a family member is never easy, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed and lost during this time. It's important to allow yourself to grieve and process your emotions at your own pace. One thing that helped me when I went through a similar situation was talking to others who had experienced loss.
