Going abroad or domestic for a vacation?

I have been making a computation of my expenses in vacation. When I go abroad with one companion it looks like it is cheaper than going on a vacation in a local resort with 10 companions. This year we have taken 2 vacations already with 10 of my friends. Now I am planning of going to Hongkong with only 1 friend which can save me money. But the big difference is the fun - it it not much fun when there are only 2 of us unlike in a trip with 11 of us.

Understandably, you're trying to balance the cost and the fun factor of your vacation. It's great that you're being mindful of your expenses, but it's also essential to consider the overall enjoyment of your trip.

Going on vacation with a larger group can be a lot of fun, as you have more people to share experiences with and create many memories together. However, it's also important to consider the potential downsides, such as coordinating schedules and preferences, dealing with different personalities, and possibly sacrificing individual preferences for the group's good.

On the other hand, traveling with just one friend can be more cost-effective and allow for a more intimate and personalized experience. You have more flexibility in terms of scheduling and can tailor the trip to your interests. Ultimately, the decision comes down to what's most important to you - saving money or having a fun and enjoyable vacation experience. If you're willing to sacrifice a bit of fun for cost savings, going to Hong Kong with just one friend could be a good option.

I can agree that travelling as a group is more fun and adventures, but just do what you want to. There are always going to be more trips when you have the money just choose what you feel will suit you. Travelling with 1 companion is also fun if you are comfortable with them or if you have a close bond with them.
