Threat of Omicron

After almost two years, the Coronavirus epidemic was seen retreating and life was returning to normal. Just when we thought that the virus would vanish for ever, it has returned with a new variant called Omicron. Although, there is still no evidence of it penetrating the masses, we still need to be careful and cautious. India has put a stop to international flights until 15th December. I hope it is enough as I can't bear to think of yet another lockdown!

I am not really aware of the covid variants and maybe I am not interested at all. My wife died of pneumonia last October and it has no direct relation with covid. That clearly means to me that if you will die then you can die of whatever cause. No matter the variant but if it is not our time to die then we shall surely be spared of Omicron. Good luck to all of us.

Yes, there is a time to die for everyone. I have heard of older people with numerous complications such as heart trouble, diabetes, and other problems, despite which they survived from Coronavirus. However, there are also numerous people seemingly very healthy and no known illnesses have succumbed to the virus. So there is no saying who will get affected and who won't. Yet, we need to be cautious and get vaccinated.

Dear Mildred, there is a lot of difference between HIV and Coronavirus. HIV is a disease that is caused by a virus which attacks your body when your immunity is at the lowest, causing a bunch of various diseases and symptoms in different parts of the body. It is very difficult, almost impossible to pinpoint one factor and make a vaccine to address that. Whereas Coronavirus is caused by a single virus and therefore it is possible to make vaccine for it because we know it. BUt trust me, if you have the vaccine and still catch Coronavirus, your symptoms will be much milder than if you never took the vaccine. So it is in your interest to get it.

This adds to people's stress. Our country Philippines is great danger again. Most cities in the capital are in the state being lockdown.

It's good our place is safe.

Now the big question is what agency is reliable and incredible as far as this deadly virus is concerned to believe?
There would hardly be anyone who would come clean with the real statistics. My opinion is that we should go with what we see around us and what we feel with our gut. If you see people around you going about their lives as always, are perfectly fit and healthy and no one you know is sick or hospitalised, then there is no need to worry.

But those Covid patients are classified into two: the symptomatic and asymptomatic. Symptomatic is easy to detect but the asymptomatic needs to be swab test to find out whether they positive or negative.

Corona epidemic is as good as over in the city that I live. There are still regularly reported cases, but the threat has passed. There are no reports of patients requiring hospitalisation due to serious condition, no deaths reported etc. Patients are being treated with medicines and other regimen similar to treatment of flu. So people can breathe free. However, I still take precautions of wearing a mask when out in public.

That's a good news. No more stress. No more apprehensions. Ours is still being sensationalized by the Department of Health and even the Department of Commerce. Not only adults are mandated to be vaccinated but also kids, 5 to 11 years old. In fact, kids infected with Corona virus are very rare. Why are they vaccinated? What's the rationality?
