Too much time spent in the airport

Whenever we would have a flight for abroad we usually spend so much time. We have to leave home to travel for more than an hour to the airport. Add to that the waiting for the boarding time which is 3 hours. Overall we were spending about 5 hours for the flight. I wonder how we can save time because we have to check in at least 2 hours before the flight so we have to be there earlier. The traffic on the road also adds to the problem.

This seems to be a situation that can not be avoided. It's something you must be already used to.

Trying to engage in something useful while waiting could help to ease the tension in such circumstances.
