What are the most notable events in your culture?

Aside from Christmas which cannot be postponed the most important events in our life is the wedding and baptismal of the baby. There is also the 1st birthday of the child and the milestone wedding anniversary which is usually the 50th year. In this pandemic era most of the occasions and events are cancelled and postponed but the events that I mentioned are so important that we cannot forgo with the celebration.

The notable events here are weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, baptisms and many others including circumcisions. This events still happen despite the pandemic.

Even funerals cannot be postponed because of the pandemic. They still happen even if they are sad events.

In India, we have communities belonging to many religions and castes, each having their own set of religious rituals and festivals. So in a multicultural country like ours, we have numerous occasions to celebrate, these part from weddings, engagements, christenings etc. Notable and major festivals for Hindus in India are Diwali - the festival of lights, Ganesh Festival - where we worship Lord Ganesh for 10 days, Holi - the festival of colours and a moment to welcome the spring, Rakhi - a celebration of the eternal bond between a brother and a sister etc. Then different communities have different dates on which they celebrate New Year in traditional manner.
